Three Tigerland bars cited for underage drinking
BATON ROUGE - The city-parish Alcohol Beverage Control board took no action Thursday night against three Tigerland bars accused of multiple violations. The board was set to hear six allegations of underage drinking from an investigation in late May.
"Apparently since the violations in May there were subsequent violations that also occurred," said ABC Chairman Bryan Jeansonne. "It's just easier to deal with all of the violations at once rather than have several separate hearings."
Mike's Bar is accused of one minor possessing or consuming alcohol and one employee consuming alcohol while working.
JL's bar is accused of one minor possessing or consuming alcohol. Reggie's is accused of four minors possessing or consuming alcohol, it's second offense within a year.
Last June, a sting operation at Reggie's found 19 people 17-years-old or younger inside the bar. As punishment, the business was twice temporarily shut down.
"If bars present themselves as chronic violators, we may need to look at suspending some of those licenses," said Jeansonne.
The three bars could face punishment by ABC in August if not sooner. Prosecutors said the bars may be working to address the allegations and prevent them from happening again.
