Husband shot, killed wife in murder-suicide; Teenager found parents dead
MARINGOUIN - A couple was found dead inside their home Tuesday after what deputies believe was a murder-suicide.
Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi said the couple's teenage child found them dead around 3:45 Tuesday at their home on Wheelock Lane. The two were identified as Sam Moody and Jana Hoffman.
Deputies said Wednesday, it appears Sam shot Jana before killing himself.
Tuesday, the sheriff's office shared details on the startling situation: "Some children had entered their mom and dad's home and discovered that they had been killed," Sheriff Stassi said at the time. "We're in the early stages of the investigation, but we're going to get to the bottom of it."
The sheriff's office said they believe the couple were having "family issues."
"It has destroyed this family," Sheriff Stassi said.
