If you're "under the weather" today, coming up we will share with you how the expression originated.. Weather ranks as a determining factor in numerous situations. Statistics indicate that the yield of harvest around the world and the price of food is determined by the weather. In business and industry, some companies depend on more extensive forecasts to ensure productivity. Drastic changes in weather conditions also affects our health. Viewers often share with me their arthritic aches and pains during episodes of changing weather and a drop in the barometric pressure. Flu shots traditionally were dispensed much later in the year but are now available at the end of August. They are still available at numerous locations.  In some countries, face masks limit the spread of germs as weather is certainly a determining factor in the movement of airborne viruses. Many years ago when sailors were on deck and the elements and the motion of the ocean made them sick, they were ordered below deck to ride out the storm. Thus the expression... "under the weather."
