PRAIRIEVILLE - Deputies arrested a second person tied to a beating of a man and leaving him in the road after a minor car accident in October.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, the accident happened around 8 p.m. along Causey Road on October 16.

Deputies said the victim was attacked after the accident while trying to talk to Bryan Cage, 37. The victim was taken to a hospital with multiple injuries but has since been released.

Cage was charged with second degree battery and hit and run charges.

Cage surrendered himself to the sheriff's office four days later.

On November 2, deputies said they arrested a second person: Marlana Stewart, 27, of Zachary.  She is charged with principal to second-degree battery, and principal to hit and run driving.

Deputies said Stewart was a passenger in the vehicle Cage was driving when the battery happened.

Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre, frustrated with crime and those accused of committing it, decided on Wednesday to distribute a photo of Stewart.  A recent Louisiana law set guidelines to limit the publication of mugshots, restricting the images of some people arrested in certain types of crimes.

The sheriff has the authority to make a determination and did, based on the severity of the attack the pair were arrested and changed in.
