Suspected drunk driver charged in deadly Tuesday crash in West Baton Rouge
WEST BATON ROUGE - One person has died after being struck on US 190 Tuesday night.
The incident was reported around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday on US 190 around Mullatto Bend, located near a local fishing supply shop.
State police say 55-year-old Carl Perkins of Baton Rouge is being charged with vehicular homicide and driving under suspension in the crash.
Investigators say Perkins struck and killed 28-year-old Frank Blankenship of North Carolina. Blankenship had reportedly pulled his vehicle onto the shoulder of the highway and was standing in the roadway when Perkins struck him. It's unknown if he was impaired at the time.
Police said a breath sample showed Perkins' BAC was more than double the legal driving limit at the time of the crash.
