BATON ROUGE - Arrest documents obtained after a woman was found beaten to death in her home Monday morning show that the suspect had a history of being abusive to multiple other women.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Rachel Johnson, 42, was found inside her home around 10:30 a.m. Monday. An autopsy revealed Johnson died from blunt force trauma.

On Wednesday, a BRPD spokesperson said 35-year-old Cedrick Lang was arrested and booked for second-degree murder.

Arrest documents said multiple witnesses had recalled hearing Lang threaten Johnson, saying on multiple occasions that he was going to kill her. The witnesses also said they had noticed severe bruising on Johnson's arms and face in the months leading up to her death.

Police also said that records from three other local jurisdictions show that Lang had been mentioned in "numerous" reports involving multiple other women who had been in a relationship with Lang. Every report mentioned how Lang physically abused them and that they were trying to leave the relationship.

At the time of his arrest for Johnson's death, Lang had two separate protective orders filed against him.

Lang was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. His bond has not yet been set.
