Facebook group seeks to rename Lee Circle in memory of Allen Toussaint
NEW ORLEANS- The city of New Orleans is still mourning the loss of music legend Allen Toussaint, but a social media campaign is trying to keep a piece of him in the city.
The movement on Facebook aims to rename Lee Cirle in honor of the jazz great.
Muscian Glen David Andrews says he suggested the idea about three months ago. The day after Toussaint's death he tweeted out his idea and it went viral. Now there's a Facebook group dedicated to the cause, and an online petition that already has about 2,000 signatures.
The suggestion comes amidst a push to relocate confederate statues around the city.
