BATON ROUGE – Mayor-President elect Sharon Weston Broome's transition team has announced the official plans for her inauguration on Jan. 2.

The inauguration events will begin on Sunday, Jan. 1 with a Celebration of Faith at Star Hill Church at 6 p.m.

The following day, on Jan. 2, Weston Broome will take the oath of office as Mayor-President of Baton Rouge in a ceremony at the River Center Theatre for Performing Arts at 5 p.m. Following the ceremony, Weston Broome will host a "Celebrate Baton Rouge" event at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center located at 201 Lafayette Street.

Weston Broome's transition team states that the events are being funded through donations and not through taxpayers' money.

"I am excited to be able to pray and celebrate with the community as I take the oath to lead this city and parish over the next four years," Weston Broome said.

All of the events are open to the public. More information can be found here.
