Crash near state line leaves one person dead
ST. FRANCISVILLE - A crash near the state line in West Feliciana Parish left one person dead late Friday authorities revealed.
Ian T. Wilson, 55, of Woodville, Mississippi, was killed after the pickup he was driving was rear-ended on US 61 around 7 o'clock Friday night. Authorities said the driver of an SUV failed to stop as Wilson stopped ahead of them to let a car turn off the highway.
Wilson's vehicle was pushed off the highway and rolled over. Wilson, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and died.
The driver and passengers of the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
State Police said impairment on the part of both drivers is unknown at this time, but a toxicology sample was taken from both to be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation and no charges appear to have been filed yet.
