CATS will shutter riderless Garden District route
BATON ROUGE - Tuesday, the board overseeing the public bus company agreed to shut down its Garden District trolley service.
CATS created the route through the historic neighborhood about 18 months ago. Combustion engine buses built to look like trolleys run the route that drives through Downtown Baton Rouge, Mid City, Garden District and the Perkins Road Overpass area.
Earlier this summer, The Advocate reported the route averages three riders per day.
CATS said money allocated to running the route will be diverted to routes with more riders.
