Man dead after tree fell on him on Sharlane Drive
BATON ROUGE - Authorities responded to the scene of an incident late Monday morning where a tree fell on a man and killed him.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. on Monday in the 8800 block of Sharlane Drive. Neighbors told WBRZ that the man was 91 years old. The coroner later identified the man as 91-year-old Alton Richard and confirmed that blunt force trauma to the head was the cause of death.
It appeared that a tree snapped from a neighbor's yard. Preliminary investigation reports indicate that the tree snapped due to the wind as a wind advisory was in effect for the area.
