Chef Gordon Ramsay shows Master Chef contestants "how to prepare crawfish"
While residents in Michigan continue to panic over their crawfish infestation, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is "showing" his MasterChef contestants just how to cook the crustaceans ... sort of.
Instead of the method most Louisianians are accustomed to — a large pot, crab boil, potatoes, corn and other secret seasonings — Ramsay cooks his crawfish in lightly salted water. Yep, that's it.
In the Facebook video first posted by Luxury Food London, Ramsay says the crawfish will "turn to mush" if overcooked.
After "boiling" them for an astoundingly short amount of time, he shows the contestants how to peel them.
Most of the contestants spend the video panicking at the thought of preparing what most in the Boot consider a treat.
They were then pitted against each other to see who could peel the most crawfish in 10 minutes.
The comments under the video are filled with outraged natives saying Ramsay's technique is a "disgrace."
At the end of the video, the crawfish are neatly peeled and placed on a glass display with no newspaper, head or tails in sight.
