White House letter to Louisiana about Syrian refugees
BATON ROUGE - The White House sent Governor Bobby Jindal a letter Monday offering specific information concerning refugees already resettled in the state.
In the letter, Chief of Staff Denis McDonough writes the federal government would provide monthly reports about refugees resettled in Louisiana for the past year if the governor requests the information. The reports would include the number of refugees resettled, the nationality of the refugees, age ranges, and gender. The reports would be available on a password-protected website.
McDonough writes the federal government's vetting of refugees is "the most robust screening process" for anyone entering the United States.
