Vacant Baton Rouge club collapses Sunday
BATON ROUGE - Firefighters were dispatched to a disaster zone Sunday afternoon when a vacant club on North Street collapsed.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department received a call about the collapse around 4:15 p.m., and rushed to the scene, Herson's Private Club at 3457 North Street near N. Acadian Thruway, where they found the front half of the club collapsed for reasons that have yet to be determined.
The building owner says the place has been vacant since the COVID-19 pandemic.
A search dog was called to the scene as a precaution and did not detect anyone inside of the building.
