MONTGOMERY, AL - The Southern Jaguars came in off a bye week rested and ready, and beat Alabama State 45-34 to improve to 3-0 in SWAC play.

The Jaguars saw a break out performance from quarterback Austin Howard, who threw more touchdown passes in the game (4) than he had all season (2).

Howard finished 33 of 45 for 355 yards and ran for two more scores as the Jags took a 17-0 lead into the half, and then withstood a Hornets rally at the end.

The Jaguars (3-2, 3-0) return home for a game against Prairie View A&M next week.
