School briefly placed on lockdown due to suspicious person
BATON ROUGE - A school was put on lockdown while authorities dealt with a suspicious person near campus around lunchtime Tuesday.
Cedarcrest-Southmoor was briefly placed into a heightened security operation but has subsequently returned to normal operations. Dismissal will take place as usual.
Authorities responded to the I-12/Airline area around 1 to reports of a suspicious person. After about 20 minutes, the individual was apprehended.
A picture taken by a WBRZ photographer showed a man surrounded by five sheriff's deputies.
A spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said the man was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for unknown reasons.
