OMV offers online license plate cancellation service
BATON ROUGE - With the Office of Motor Vehicles cancelling several hundred license plates a day since recent flooding, the OMV says it will now offer an option for motorists to cancel license plates online.
A link on the OMV’s website at www.expresslane.org will allow customers to cancel the license plate on their vehicle without having to go into an OMV office. Click here to visit the page directly.
Customers will need to enter their VIN, plate number and zip code of the registered owner of the vehicle. A receipt can be printed after canceling the plate online.
The OMV announced on Saturday that will also be extending office hours to accommodate the overwhelming demand it has seen since many vehicles were flooded. The following locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Sept. 6 to Sept. 9. These locations will also remain open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10.
