BRPD said around 10:45 p.m. Baranco refused to stop during a traffic stop in the 5800 block of Hollywood Street. Police said during the pursuit Baranco hit two police cruisers and tried to hit two officers.
Police fired at Baranco's vehicle, and McKneely said he was hit in the upper torso. Bullet holes were seen in the windshield of the car as police worked the crime scene Monday night.
Police said Baranco and the second man took off running, but Baranco was caught and detained. Police said the second man got back into the vehicle and sped off, ditching the car nearby before fleeing the scene.
Baranco was taken to a hospital with injuries which were not life-threatening. He was charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder of police officer and aggravated criminal damage to property.
