BATON ROUGE - Deputies are investigating the shooting of a man on Old Jefferson after an altercation Monday night.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, one victim was shot by an unidentified subject at a home on Jessica Street in Prairieville just before midnight.  After being shot, the victim, who was not identified, got himself to a fire station on Antioch Road in East Baton Rouge a few miles away. 

Overnight, sources said both Ascension Parish and East Baton Rouge were working the case, although it appears by Tuesday morning Ascension Sheriff's deputies were primarily handling the inquiry. 

Sources said the victim was shot multiple times. The victim was then taken to a hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
