BATON ROUGE - Another member of Governor John Bel Edwards' staff tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday. This is the fifth among his staff in the past week.

The governor says the staffer was vaccinated and no other employees were exposed as a result of this latest case.

The governor said Tuesday a different employee who tested positive has been working offsite and no other employees were exposed.

Monday, the governor said a different staffer tested positive, and five other employees were potentially exposed. They are isolating as a result.

Three other employees tested positive within the past week.

All staffers affected were vaccinated for COVID. Read the full statement sent Monday below.

One member of the Governor’s Office has tested positive for COVID-19 and five additional staffers were potentially exposed, the Governor’s office disclosed today. Everyone is doing well and at home in isolation awaiting test results, per guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Louisiana Department of Health.

The Governor’s office has a high rate of fully vaccinated staff including these staffers who were vaccinated against COVID earlier this year. While breakthrough cases such as these do happen, they typically do not result in serious illness. The Governor’s Office practices all CDC and LDH-recommended COVID mitigation measures, including indoor masking, quarantine and isolation, and COVID testing after exposure.
