Pointe Coupee residents fed up with bumpy roads

POINTE COUPEE PARISH - Residents of Pointe Coupee could be in for smoother commutes to work and school in the next few years as parish bridges and roads are in line for a makeover, but some people who live in the parish think workers have made a mess they need to clean up first.

Pointe Coupee Parish is set to receive the money it needs to begin major roadway revisions next year, but many people in the parish say recent roadwork has created more problems than it has fixed.

Residents say uneven pavement has created "unintentional speed bumps" that are not only jarring to motorists who drive the roadways every day, but may pose dangers to drivers.

Parish officials say engineers are beginning to survey roads to prioritize the roads that need repair the most, but the people they represent seem to think they should backtrack to correct issues with roadways that have already received attention.

Regardless, there is plenty of time to decide as new renovations are not set to begin until January.
