Man shot, killed after forcing his way into home Tuesday night
BATON ROUGE - Police say a man is dead after he allegedly broke into a duplex on Kleinert Avenue Tuesday night.
According to authorities, the shooting took place in the 2000 block of Kleinert Ave. near Perkins Road sometime before 10:50 p.m. Police say 33-year-old Micah West smashed the front window of one of the units, reached around and unlocked the front door from the inside.
West was shot by the homeowner after he made his way to the back of the apartment.
West was shot twice in the chest and transported to a hospital. Police confirmed his death Wednesday afternoon.
West was previously arrested in Nov. 2016 after he was found drunkenly wandering through traffic and then threatened to kill a paramedic.
