LELA hosts free FAFSA webinar, workshop
BATON ROUGE - The federal government awards $150 billion dollars to high school seniors going to college, but in order to apply for this money you must fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Last year only 44% of Louisiana high school seniors filled out a FAFSA, which leaves a lot of money left on the table.
"The federal government has done a lot to streamline the FAFSA form," Dubroc told News 2's Kylie Dixon. "it takes approximately 20 minutes if you have all of the necessary documents."
Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. LELA is offering a free webinar, which offers an overview of financial aid and step-by-step instructions on how to complete a FAFSA.
Dubroc said now is the time, for people starting college in 2015, to complete the form.
Her organization is also offering a FAFSA workshop at the East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library on Goodwood Blvd. this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
