Caleb Roddy heading to The Opening
DENHAM SPRINGS - With a scholarship offer and verbal committment to LSU, Caleb Roddy has already established himself as one of the best high school football players in the country: now the Denham Springs defensive end is headed to The Opening to test himself against the best.
The Opening is a Nike sponsored skills camp in Oregon that puts some of the top college recruits on display in front of a national audience - the competition will be shown on ESPNU Thursday from 7-10pm.
Roddy says he doesn't want to just show up: he wants to show he belongs.
"I'm out to prove I'm one of the best defensive linemen in the country," Roddy said.
Roddy is 6'5" and 245 pounds and listed as a 4-star recruit by ESPN.
As a junior, he had 79 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and forced 3 fumbles.
