Worker died after being crushed by barge on river dock Friday
BATON ROUGE - The U.S. Coast Guard was on the scene of a deadly industrial accident on the Mississippi River until late Friday.
A person died on a barge upriver of the Old Mississippi River Bridge. The USCG Marine Safety Unit Baton Rouge was called to the scene to investigate, a Coast Guard spokesperson told WBRZ.
The barge was docked near a riverside gravel yard Friday evening. The Coast Guard was on the barge, investigating.
The name of the deceased has not been released. Investigators said the victim was killed when they were crushed by the barge as it was being tied to a dock.
