BATON ROUGE - At least two suspects opened fire inside a house on Kerrit Drive overnight, killing Leco Reshon Cole, 38, sheriff's deputies released before lunch.

Reshon is from Baton Rouge, his address was listed as North 30th Street. Reshon was one of four people shot but was the only one to be killed. Three others were taken to an area hospital after the shooting before midnight in 4000 block of Kerrit Drive, near the intersection of Prescott Road and Joor Road.

Both suspects have similar, vague appearances - wearing dark clothing.

Deputies used a chopper and K9 officers to search for the suspects overnight. They were seen running into woods after the shooting. Their identities are unknown.

One of the vicitm’s daughters, Shayla Scott, talked to News 2's Earl Phelps on Thursday. She said that her mother was left in a coma after she was wounded in the shooting.

“And when I called her, she answered the phone and it was like help, help me I'm dying. I said what are you talking about? She was like I'm dying. Tell all my kids that  I love them,” she said.

At least one of the three other victims have been released from the hospital as of Thursday afternoon.

Police say they have not found a motive in the case so far.

Neighbors say that shooting happened in the area about seven months ago that killed a man just a block away from where Thursday night’s shooting took place.

“It's scary, there so many kids out here,” neighbor Larryshia May said.  “It just doesn't happen at night, this can happen any time of the day. Innocent people can be hurt,” May said.

May said that she knows two of the victims who were shot.

“It's heart breaking that their families have to go through this, their children, their other friends. This stuff is unnecessary,” May said.
