Two men arrested in separate shootings

BATON ROUGE - East Baton Rouge Sheriff's office arrested two people involved in two separate murders this year.
According to investigators Cedrick Smith, 19, was arrested for illegal use of a weapon and second degree murder for his involvement in the August 19, 2015 murder of 20-year-old Artez Hamilton.
Detectives said they received information that Hamilton arranged to trade two assault-style rifles for two handguns with an unknown man or men. Investigators said a witness identified Smith as the man seen running from the area where Artez was shot. Smith turned himself into detectives on Friday and was booked into parish prison.
Detectives also arrested George Stevenson Jr., 20, for his involve in a September 22nd homicide of 28-year-old Henry McGuffey III Another man was also found shot at the scene, but survived his injuries. McGuffey was pronounced dead on the scene.
Stevenson was identified by a witness. He's charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. Stevenson was located at his residence on Friday.
