BATON ROUGE – Police said a 31-year-old woman was more than three times over the legal limit when she was arrested for DWI Saturday night.

Baton Rouge Police said Ashley Merriett was driving around 11:35 p.m. when she pulled into a Coffee Bean parking lot on the 12100 block of Coursey Blvd.

According to Police, Marriett parked her car and was drinking daiquiris with a passenger.

BRPD said an officer approached the vehicle and told her that there have been several burglaries in the area.

The officer said Merriett had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, slurred speech and was swaying.

Police said she was unable to do a field sobriety test and was offered a breath test. Marriett registered a .252 BAC and police placed her under arrest.

Baton Rouge Police said Marriett had two previous DWI arrests in 2008 and 2013. Her driver’s license was also suspended because of the 2013 arrest.
