PHOTOS: Funeral and procession of Officer Matthew Gerald
Images from News 2 viewers and WBRZ.com viewers poured in via social media networks on Friday when Baton Rouge Police Department Officer Matthew Gerald was laid to rest.
The officer was shot and killed during the gunfight that unfolded at an Airline Highway business on the morning of Sunday, July 17th.
A massive turnout appeared at Healing Place church where the viewing and funeral for Officer Gerald were held. The funeral procession took the interstate to arrive at his final resting place at Louisiana National Cemetary.
He is survived by a wife of four years along with two daughters aged three and nine.
Visitation and funeral services for East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Garafola will follow on Saturday. The other BRPD officer killed during the ambush shooting, Montrell Jackson, will be buried on Monday.
