Man shot on New Orleans parade route
NEW ORLEANS - NOPD says a 36-year-old Metairie man was shot along a parade route Saturday afternoon.
According to a report from WWLTV, a firearm was shot from inside of a port-o-let at the corner of St. Charles and Napoleon Avenues and wounded a man on the neutral ground. Authorities believe a man may have mishandled his weapon, causing it to misfire into the crowd.
The man was shot in his side and taken to a hospital by EMS. No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
Police say there was no altercation before the shooting, leading them to believe it was an accident.
