Man dies in overnight crash on Plank Rd.
BAKER - A 29-year-old man died in a head-on crash overnight.
State Police said Kirkland Nelldell was killed in the wreck on Plank Road south of Hwy. 64 around one o'clock Sunday morning. Investigators said Nelldell was driving south and for some reason, crossed into the northbound lane. As he did, a driver headed north tried to avoid hitting Nelldell by crossing into the southbound lanes. Nelldell moved back into his lane and the vehicles collided.
The driver and a passenger in the other car were hurt but only had minor injuries. They were wearing their seatlbelts but Nelldell was not, authorities said.
Nelldell died at the crash scene.
