Man arrested after setting fire to his own home, leaving dog, firefighter injured in aftermath
BATON ROUGE - Fire investigators arrested a man for intentionally setting his house on fire, injuring a puppy and a firefighter in the ensuing blaze.
The fire happened on Feb. 26 on Pimpernel Avenue. Firefighters rescued a dog from one of the rear bedrooms of the home.
An investigation found the fire was set intentionally as someone had reportedly ignited a pile of trash beneath the home. Video footage from the scene led investigators to arrest Tyrie Burton, 32, for simple arson.
Officials said Burton lived in the home, but it was unclear why he set his house on fire.
