LSU softball advances to regional title game
BATON ROUGE – The LSU softball team will advance to the regional title game after a 4-1 win over the McNeese State Cowgirls Saturday afternoon at Tiger Park.
The Saturday win means the Tigers claimed a spot on the final day for the second consecutive year.
LSU secured the victory after plating two insurance runs in the sixth inning to extend the Tiger’s lead by three.
“I can barely remember a game against McNeese State where it wasn't an absolute battle. Every time you play them I feel like it’s just down to the wire,” head coach Beth Torina said. “I thought our team continued to fight. We had a lot of opportunities with people on base and they made some great pitches.”
