BATON ROUGE – Heavy rain is causing street flooding and road closures across the Baton Rouge area.

According to WBRZ’s Brett Buffington, Baton Rouge Police closed Burbank Drive near Walk-Ons due to high water in the street.

Alaska Street near Louisiana State University is also impassable due to high standing water.

Twitter user @mreroll2 sent a photo to WBRZ News 2 of street flooding off of Winbourne Avenue.

According to Baton Rouge Police, a large tree is blocking the road at 2800 Winnebago Street. Also, police said the traffic light at Burbank Drive at Lee Drive is completely out.

Police said high water can be found in roads at Burbank Drive near Lee Drive, South River Road, and Scenic Highway near 70th Avenue.
