UPDATE: The Enterprise Products gas line that ruptured yesterday and caused a gas outage for all East Iberville customers has been repaired.

According to the Iberville Parish Council, crews will now begin unlocking gas meters and lighting pilots for all customers. Crews will be knocking on doors throughout the day. If residents are home or do not answer the door then crews come by, they will leave a card on the door knob.

Roxani Williams, a 14-year-long resident in St. Gabriel says this is the first time her gas has been shut off.

"I'm a little frustrated, I have to go to work tomorrow, I have to wash clothes, of course we wait till the last minute, people love to procrastinate," she said.

For her son, Alexander, the unexpected outage did not come at a good time.

"I usually stay on campus because I'm a freshman at LSU, but I really wanted a home cooked meal," said Alexander. "My mom called me on my way home saying we didn't have gas, so we couldn't cook."

The Williams' gas was off from 7 p.m. Sunday to 2 p.m. Monday.

The Iberville Parish Utility Department says 70 percent of the 704 homeowners affected now have gas. They're hoping to reach the remaining residents by Tuesday night at the latest.

"The problem is if no one is home, I can't turn them on," said Mark Migliacio, the Director of Operations. "Someone has to be there so we can go inside, make sure the service is correct, make sure the pilot lights are lit and the gas is okay."

IBERVILLE PARISH- A ruptured gas line that occurred earlier today has caused a gas outage in East Ibverville.

Enterprise Pipeline lost natural gas pressure that services all Iberville Parish gas customers in East Iberville. Crews are being dispatched to lock out all gas meters at this time.

Once gas is restored, crews will go back around to unlock meters. Crews will work as quickly as possible to restore service to all customers.
