Fiery crash closes I-55 early Sunday
MANCHAC – Southbound lanes of I-55 closed Sunday morning after a fiery crash between Ponchatoula and LaPlace.
State Police said two vehicles were involved in the crash. I-55 was closed around sunrise and remained closed for more than two hours.

There were minor injuries, troopers said.
Pictures shared on social media showed a burned, mangled mess. It appeared one of the vehicles involved was a semi. The large radiator of a tractor-trailer was obvious in the wreckage.
Traffic was diverted off I-55 at Manchac onto “Old” US 51.
