BATON ROUGE - State Police honored members of the force who died in the line of duty during a ceremony Tuesday night. Two fallen troopers had their names added to a memorial.

One of the names added: Louisiana Highway Commission Patrolman Frank Brown, Jr. He died in a motorcycle accident in 1934. The other: Senior Trooper Steven Vincent who was shot and killed on the side of a highway near Lake Charles in August 2015.

" Never dreamed it would be me. My name for all eternity. Recorded here at this hollow place alas my name, no more my face," Vincent's son, Ethan, read in a poem for his father. "In the line of duty I hear them say my family now, the price to pay. My folded flag stained with their tears. We only had those few short years."

Images of the 10-year-old with Vincent's hat and flag went viral in November, 2 months after investigators say Kevin Daigle shot and killed his father. Daigle is also charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of 54-year-old Blake Brewer, his roommate. The victim's body was found during the investigation following Vincent's death.

The crime itself not on the minds of those in attendance Tuesday night.

" The badge no longer on my chest I sleep now in eternal rest. My sword I pass to those behind and pray they keep this thought in mind," Ethan Vincent read.

The family of Vincent and other fallen troopers were there for their loved ones.

"I never dreamed it would be me. And with heavy heart and bended knee, I ask for all here from the past, dear God let my father be the last," he concluded.

29 Louisiana State Troopers have died in the line-of-duty.
