Escaped St. Helena Parish inmate captured in MS
GREENSBURG - Authorities say an inmate who escaped a St. Helena Parish jail facility on October 20 has been captured.
The sheriff's office says 27-year-old Taylor Miller was apprehended in Pearl, Mississippi. Miller is currently being held at Rankin County Jail in Brandon and is awaiting extradition back to Louisiana.
Sheriff Nat Williams previously told WBRZ that Miller managed to escape while washing dishes in the kitchen. Investigators said he walked out of an unlocked door and got out of the jail on the third floor where air condition work was taking place.
As a result of Miller's escape, two deputies employed with the sheriff's office were terminated. Both of them were employed by the sheriff's office for less than a year.
