Driver accused of shooting out tire of man's pickup
MANDEVILLE, La. - Louisiana State Police say a Louisiana man is accused of chasing down a Mississippi driver who hit his pickup truck, then shooting out a tire on the other man's vehicle.
Trooper Dustin Dwight says 24-year-old John Reed II of Mandeville, Louisiana, was arrested Friday night on aggravated assault and other charges, and 45-year-old John Elarton of Magnolia, Mississippi, was ticketed for running a red light.
Reed did not immediately return a call for comment Sunday.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Landry says Reed is free on $30,750 bond.
Dwight says Reed caught up to Elarton, the men exchanged words, and Elarton was driving away again when Reed fired at the back of Elarton's pickup truck.
Dwight says Reed then reported the crash, telling dispatchers the other driver had a flat tire.
