Denham Springs woman dead in single vehicle accident on River Road
BATON ROUGE – A Denham Springs woman is dead after her vehicle overturned on River Road Wednesday afternoon.
Louisiana State Police say 39-year-old Amy Fitzhugh's vehicle suddenly went off the left side of the roadway. Fitzhugh tried to correct herself and lost control of her vehicle. As a result the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and went down an embankment and overturned. She was partially ejected from the vehicle.
Fitzhugh was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and sustained fatal injuries from the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but a toxicology sample was taken for analysis.
