Boat crash in swamp injures woman Wednesday
BUTTE LA ROSE - A woman was injured when a boat crashed in the Atchafalaya Basin Wednesday.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said game wardens responded to the wreck. A single vessel ran into a bank along the Atchafalaya River near Butte La Rose in St. Martin Parish. LDWF said it is leading the investigation into what happened with the help of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office.
The woman was taken to the hospital, agents said. Her injuries were not released.
The Atchafalaya River snakes through the parish from just north of the I-10 Basin Bridge to about just east of Lake Fausse Pointe State Park before the river meanders into St. Mary.
