Report: Life of 'Pistol' Pete to become another feature film

BATON ROUGE - A filmmaker and NBA star are teaming up to put the life of LSU great "Pistol" Pete Maravich on the big screen.

It is the second movie about the basketball legend in the last two decades. This time, filmmaker Brett Rapkin will work with NBA All-Star Steve Nash on the project, The Wrap reported recently.

Insiders said the film will cover all aspects of Maravich's life: his success at LSU then NBA and even his alcoholism and stories of personal tragedy. Maravich died when he was 40-years-old while playing a game of pickup basketball.

"It's a worth-while story, there's no doubt," "Boots" Garland told WBRZ reporter Brittany Weiss Tuesday. Garland was friends with Maravich and starred in the first movie, "The Pistol."

"It just didn't happen for him," Garland said about Maravich's success. "He would pay his dues. He would practice incessantly."

Garland added, Maravich was a dedicated friend and player.

The new film about the life of Pete Maravich is expected to be filmed in Louisiana.
