CENTRAL - Heavy rains from Sunday led to rising water levels in the Comite River, compromising traffic in parts of Central Tuesday.

Authorities say this past weekend's heavy rainfall caused the river to overflow and spill onto Frenchtown Road Tuesday morning. The Central Fire Department used a boat to rescue a citizen who got stuck in the flood waters.

Firefighters say the flooding was likely caused by runoff from Sunday's severe weather.
