Victim identified in deadly Coy Avenue shooting
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies said a 28-year-old woman was shot and killed Saturday night in the southern portion of East Baton Rouge Parish.
Deputies said Kourtney Thomas died in the shooting, which happened just before 9 p.m. in the 8600 block of Coy Ave. near the intersection of Gardere Lane and Burbank Drive.
EMS told WBRZ a second person was also shot and taken to the hospital from the scene. Authorities said they only had minor injuries.
Deputies did not identify any suspects in the shooting, or release any other details.
This is the first recorded murder in Baton Rouge in 2016.
