Two arrested after armed robbery at Denham Springs store
DENHAM SPRINGS - Deputies arrested a man accused of firing a handgun inside a business after the cashier refused to give up the store's cash.
The robbery happened around 10 p.m. Dec. 12 at a convenience store on Springfield Road.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says the masked man, identified Tuesday as 19-year-old Skyler Long, walked in and gave the employee a note demanding cash. After the cashier refused to hand over the money, Long allegedly fired a shot at the ground and then walked around the counter.
The robber then opened up the register himself and grabbed money bags from a different part of the store. An accomplice waiting outside, identified as 18-year-old Jeremy Chapman, drove off with Long and the money.
Chapman was arrested and booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on a charge of armed robbery.
Long was arrested in Lee County, Alabama on unrelated charges. A hold has been placed on him, and he will be moved to the Livingston Parish Jail upon his release in Alabama.
