One person hurt at apartment fire off Sherwood Commons

BATON ROUGE - One person is being treated for their injuries at the scene of an early morning apartment fire in Baton Rouge. Red Cross was dispatched to 4500 Sherwood Commons Boulevard. It is unclear at this point if that person will be taken to the hospital.

The two-alarm fire broke out at Sherwood Place Apartments around 3:40 a.m. Friday morning. St. George Fire Department and Baton Rouge Fire Department extinguished the fire by 4:30 a.m., but are still on the scene.

Officials say at least four upstairs units received fire damage. It is unclear how many units received smoke or water damage.

Investigators are on the scene. The cause of the fire is unclear at this time.
