Man fled parish after deadly shooting at Baton Rouge house party, arrested for murder
BATON ROUGE - A man was killed at a house party Sunday night when another man pulled out a gun and shot him.
East Baton Rouge sheriff's deputies said 34-year-old Rudy Rodriguez was shot around 8 p.m. Sunday at a house on Keel Avenue. The sheriff's office said deputies were initially told the shooting happened as a group was playing a game with a revolver loaded with one bullet.
Investigators later determined Samuel Lara-Garcia, 33, pulled out a gun during an argument and said "let me show you what to do with this" before shooting Rodriguez.
Lara-Garcia was reportedly shocked when the gun went off and ran away. He was arrested by state troopers in Calcasieu Parish and booked for second-degree murder.
