IBERVILLE PARISH - Investigators are in Humble, TX looking for more clues in connection with the murder of 28-year-old Elizabeth Ferrell who was found by a fisherman in Whiskey Bay over the weekend.

As of Tuesday afternoon, investigators say that Ferrell was supposed to be at work on Friday night. She was a full-time employee at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

The next day, she was found in Whiskey Bay under I-10. The Iberville Parish Coroner said that Ferrell was strangled to death before her naked body was dumped in the water and an autopsy revealed that she suffered blunt force trauma to the head as well.

According to Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi, no one knew about her plans to go to Louisiana that night.

“We talked to her friends," Stassi said. “Her travels were not known to her employees."

According to Stassi, investigators learned that Ferrell did not own a car or have a license. According to Stassi, investigators learned that Ferrell did not own a car or have a license.

Detectives are now working closely with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office to piece together what happened.

“We're looking for video, any type of video and we're working night and day," Stassi said on Tuesday.

According to the sheriff's office, the victim's family said that Ferrell did not have much of a criminal history, but had a few drug charges.

Investigators will be looking through phone records and trying to track down anyone who may have had an idea about what Ferrell was doing prior to her death.

"Did she have any plans? What were her plans for the weekend?" Stassi questions. She doesn't have a lot of close family, and it's going to take some hard work to get this case solved."

Anyone who has recently seen Ferrell is urged to contact the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 687-3553.
