ST. HELENA- A rash of burglaries are hitting an area north of Greensburg.

On Thursday, one resident was shot at after discovering three intruders in her driveway. The resident did not want to be identified, but said she had her two-year-old son in the backseat of her vehicle when she pulled up to her house.

"The first thing I said is is my child ok? I didn't know where it went and that scared me to death," said the resident.

She said the three burglars were already in the getaway car, with a safe from inside of the house, when she pulled up behind them. That's when one of them pulled out a gun and started shooting. The bullet hit her SUV, but no one got hurt.

Law enforcement told News 2 the crooks are getting away with cash, guns and anything of value. They're asking residents to make an inventory of all of their valuable items, so that it would be easier to track them down. Authorities are warning residents that the people committing these crimes are armed and dangerous.

"We want our citizens to be very concerned, but do not involve themselves. Please call the Sheriff's office with any information they may have," said Detective Joe Chaney with the St. Helena Sheriff's Office.

So far, deputies don't know if all of the burglaries are connected yet, but they are looking for a late model, silver BMW used by the people involved in Thursday's shooting.
