Gunfire erupts near Cortana Mall; Person grazed by bullet on CATS bus
BATON ROUGE – A reported shooting prompted a barrage of law enforcement in the Villa Del Rey area.
Heavy police activity was seen along Florida Blvd, Oak Villa and Monterrey Blvd.
Sources said they were responding to reports of a shooting.
At least one person was taken to the hospital as a result of the situation after being grazed by a bullet while riding a public transit bus. The person had injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, a CATS spokesperson said.
Video from the scene shows a bullet hole in the front windshield of the bus.
An eyewitness told WBRZ they saw a heavy amount of law enforcement at the entrance to Cortana Mall from Florida Boulevard shortly after 5 o'clock Wednesday evening. Another witness said a bloodied man briefly ran into the bathroom of a Burger King just off Oak Villa before running back out the door.
